Pirates, Old Elephants, Witches in Bloomers, Bear's on Bikes, Ugly Cats, Sweet Kids, whatever you want...

My name is Jon Davis, and I am an international, award-winning freelance illustrator, living and working in Cumbria, UK.
I always loved drawing as a child, thinking up characters and stories - paints, pencils, felt tips, crayons, anything would do.
So I decided to study Illustration at Glyndwr University, Wrexham.
I work digitally, in Photoshop with a tablet and pen, because the 'undo' function saves me from the depths of frustration.

I currently have picture books out with Albert Whitman, Sterling, Harcourt and Hallmark, and a few series of young readers out with Hardie Grant Egmont and Scholastic (see my books section). I have worked on more than 100 books with publishers in various countries, also including Little Tiger Press, Scholastic, Faber & Faber, OUP, Miles Kelly, Gemser, Harpercollins, Thomas Nelson and Pearson.

My first self-penned Picture book, "Small Blue and the Deep Dark Night" came out with Harcourt and I am currently working on some further concepts for picture books.

The Picture Book 'The Knish War of Rivington Street' published by Albert Whitman won the GANYC award in 2018.

The series 'Ginger Green, Playdate Queen' published by Hardie in Australia is now out in the US, Slovenia and the UK as well.
